I am worthy! Show me more Thor The Vikings are a fascinating folk, but they were the marauders of their day, dangerous, reputed to be uncouth, ruthless and not the kind of people we would really want to hang out with. So why is Thor, the Viking god, so popular with us? Well, first of all, this isn't the Viking god. This is Thor, from the Vikings, by way of Stan Lee. A gentler, kinder Thor that retains just enough of that rough frontier mein to be interesting. Marvel's Thor is the most powerful hero in Marvel, good enough to duke it out with the highest class of beings in the Marvel universe - Cosmic-level beings. He's also extremely colorful and, thanks to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, now very much recognizable. Thor is a wonderful fusion of two abilities we are not used to seeing in one superhero. The first is simple, incredible, brute strength. It isn't evident in the films but in the comics Thor is strong enough to equal the Hulk as long as the Green Guy doesn't get too mad - at which point no one can equal the Hulk. Next, Thor is a magician of sorts, commanding the mysterious Odin power through his Uru hammer, Mjolnir (pronounced Myolnir). Well here he is, wherever you want him, from wall decal to tumbler, get with the power of the mighty Thor! |
