It's amusing to remember that when Marvel started out it depended on DC's distribution system - that's a the reason why those early Marvel Comics (from the 6Os) usually had two stories in one comic; Marvel only had a limited number of slots that they were allowed by what they eventually deemed as their Distinguished Competition. Marvel, headed by Stan Lee, kept it's head down, nose to the grindstone. The decades of work paid off as Marvel has now become a global brand.
