Based on the positive reviews I just saw Wonder Woman on Netflix.
Quick Conclusion: I loved it.
There is a part in this movie, somewhere in the middle where Wonder Woman launches into action against the forces of Nazi Germany. It was so dynamic, so comicbook-like, that I had to fight the urge to purchase a Wonder Woman comicbook collection at that moment. It was that good. If only for this segment I’d give the movie a thumbs up.
Since we’re dealing with Amazons it seems – and rightly so – that only tall women are allowed to be cast as denizens of that strange isolated island. No complaints about the production values of Themyscira, very well done.
Second to the Wonder Woman actions scenes I loved how the flashback scene about the history of the Amazons was done. Sort of like a classic painting with moving parts – I’m struggling to explain but it was very impactful and effective.
Gal Gadot (Wonder Woman) and Chris Pine (Steve Trevor) bookended this movie with their incredible screen presence. I was a bit worried about David Thewlis playing Ares since I remember the amiable Wolfman/Professor from the Harry Potter movies but he pulls it off.
