I just saw the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) announcement at the 2019 San Diego Comic Con (SDCC).
The announcements cover what’s in store for the MCU in 2020 and 2021 – the whole batch of offerings is part of MCU Phase 4.
The big new thing is a movie about the Eternals. I like that it was mentioned that the movie is for Jack Kirby, Marvel’s greatest artist and the creator of the Eternals. The Eternals came out during the seventies and I have a feeling that Kirby got the inspiration from reading Von Daniken’s Chariot of the Gods, a book that espouses what is now known as the ancient astronaut theory. I just know that the Eternals movie is going to be good because surely Marvel has learned from the Inhumans debacle.
From the world of Thor the MCU will deliver two offerings the first is Thor 4 entitle Thor Love and Thunder and it will feature Jane Foster wielding the hammer. The next Thor offering is a Loki series planned for the upcoming Disney Plus streaming service.
From the world of Captain America we have Falcon and the Winter Soldier.
The Black Widow will be getting her own movie.
So will the Scarlet Witch and the Vision.
Hawkeye will also have a series in Disney Plus.
The return of Blade to the MCU is also going to happen.
A second Doctor Strange movie will also be coming our way. The Scarlet Witch will be part of this too.
Just as the announcements were winding down some magical words were uttered: “Fantastic Four” and “mutants”. Wow.
Yup, I’m very excited for MCU Phase 4
